Design Thinking Workshop

Accelerate readiness to innovate with this "serious game" workshop!

During this game, participants experience the Design Thinking process and learn about different Design Thinking templates. Because doing is the best way to learn, participants work in small teams on an issue from Mr. Wunderbaum. They speak to real stakeholders and attend mini master classes to take the right steps in their goal of coming up with the most people-centric solution that is also of value to their client!

Design Thinking Experience

Innovation is not just a topic of conversation; it is an experience. By actively involving employees, stakeholders and decision makers in the innovation process, you deepen their understanding and increase their commitment to impending change.

Below you will discover the power of our Design Thinking Experience, designed to strengthen the readiness for innovation within organizations. Learn how to transform participants’ mindsets, introduce fresh ideas and build a future together where value creation is paramount.

Are you ready to actively engage your teams in your organization’s innovative journey? Then dive into the world of the Design Thinking Experience and boost innovation!

How does it work?

In our Design Thinking Experience, we “take” participants to an amusement park looking to expand. None other than the director, Mr. Wunderbaum will be present to give the participants the assignment.

During the day, talk with (eccentric) visitors to the park to gain insight into their needs and annoyances regarding the park.

At the end of the day, the teams present their ideas to Mr. Wunderbaum (and each other) to see who created the most innovative idea. The winner will walk away with eternal glory as a true theme park innovator.

The entire day is dedicated to walking through the methodology of Design Thinking. The
facilitators provide master classes explaining the various steps. Which participants then apply immediately. There is a particular focus on exploring the context in which they engage in conversation with visitors.

They are also taught creative techniques for coming up with ideas, turning them into a concept and then visualizing them.

It will become continuously clear to everyone as the day progresses, what the process is, how it works and can easily make the link to their daily reality themselves. The day is all about fun, discovery, learning and team building.

Everyone goes home richer than they came in, thanks to a learning experience they won’t soon forget.

Customization option

If desired, we will create a customized case that better fits the practice. Often a case away from practice is good to loosen up for a while and that promotes learning.

But, of course, there are also reasons that you might want to use a fictional case that is closer to real life.

We will create a variation of your current challenge. Create roles and make it feel as realistic as possible without ruining the learning and fun!

Duration of program

Our Design Thinking Experience is set up for a full day of 8
hours. That way we can dwell on the different steps and
provide participants a better chance to absorb it. But in some cases it is also done in half a day. See below the difference:

Half-day.
In a 4-hour experience, the focus is primarily on exploring the context.
At the beginning of the day, the assignment will be shown via a video of Mr.
Wunderbaum. Then the teams can interview 2 visitors to the park
. Soon we will move to brainstorming ideas
To develop the best idea per team into a prototype that will be presented
. This part of the day will include an energizer and some master classes.

Full day.
When an 8-hour experience is chosen, Mr. Wunderbaum will be present in the morning
to present the assignment and answer questions from the teams
. Also, teams will have time to talk with 3 visitors;
. Based on the insights from these conversations, teams discover
where the real needs are. After lunch, we translate these needs
and during brainstorming we will come up with solutions that are developed into concepts. At the
official, grand finale, the concepts can be pitched to Mr.
Wunderbaum who will designate the best idea. The entire day will have activities like
LEGO Serious Play, energizers and multiple master classes. Afterwards, there will be drinks.

For whom?

  • (Innovation) managers who want to accelerate the innovation readiness of their employees, stakeholders and decision makers
  • Event organizers seeking hands-on fulfillment for their events.
  • Moderators who want an interactive day for their business associates.
  • Sectors such as: Education, Government and Business

Result

The result depends on the goals we set together beforehand.

Our approach has proven successful by taking into account several
aspects:

  • Experience – attendees should have a fun, inspiring and productive meeting, it should be energizing.
  • Netwok: – participants get to know colleagues (in a different way),
    thereby expanding their internal network.
  • Participate – the participants are really participating, they are not spectators.
For that, we need to split the large group into small teams.
  • Experience – you learn the most by doing things. We feel it is important to let participants learn something by experiencing it, and that after a first time they want to apply or utilize it more often.

We conduct such programs for organizations such as the Ministries of Defense and Justice & Security and the provinces of Gelderland and North Brabant. We have also had the opportunity to contribute at water boards and various municipalities, as well as several listed organizations. In doing so, we always start from the above elements.
